Link popularity is very important when it comes to today's search
engines.Most of the top search engines consider link popularity
as an important ranking factor. Especially google gives a lot
of importance to links, so when it comes to search engine optimization
link popularity is very important.
In search engine optimization we cannot get
natural links from everyone. There are two remedies for this -
buying links or adding reciprocal links.But buying links is a
costly process. So we prefer going for reciprocal links.
When it comes to link building we should be careful not to link
to bad neighbourhoods. Definetely linking to a bad neighbourhood
might hurt sites that are link farms, FFAs, Redirect spam sites,etc.
Some times it will hurt our site also.
So it is better to be on the safer side and not
to do any linking to bad neighbourhood. Also check the status
of the link often.

on the bottom of the directory are without any PageRank and are
listed in the bottom. Most of these sites are in the penalized
list by google.So be careful when you go for link building tactics.

- Dont link to sites that are off topic like viagra, porn, casino
sites, etc.
- Always include your targeted words somewhere on the pages.It
should be in best readable forms not just repeated words.
- Always exchange links with as much relevant sites as possible.
- Keep checking your links on their pages once a week to make
sure they are there
- .Don't link with sites that are PR0.I mean the homepage not
the linking page.Linking page can be a PR0, a PR0 homepage can
mean anything- newsite, penalty, etc. So it's better to be safe
and not link with these pages.

if many pages at many different sites point to it and especially
if many "good" sites point to it."
Google's PageRank algorithm works on links, so links
are very important.
